Nassau Financial Federal Credit Union recently awarded four $2,000 scholarships to graduated seniors from local high schools. The students were chosen based on their outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements and granted scholarship funds toward their academic studies at the college they will attend in the fall.

NFFCU hosted a reception for the scholarship winners and their families, where students were able to connect with each other and members of the organization.

"We are very pleased to award these scholarships to our hard-working student members," said John DeCelle, the president and chief executive officer of NFFCU. "They are building a strong future by pursuing higher education and we wish them much success.”

The high school seniors who received the awards are Chelsea Altidor, Megan Bernowich, Sara Webel, and Jarad Bazan, who was also awarded a $1,000 statewide scholarship from the New York Credit Union Association in addition to the scholarship by NFFCU.

Founded in 1936 in Westbury, NFFCU is Long Island's oldest federally chartered credit union. The nonprofit financial cooperative has over $400 million in assets and serves more than 23,000 members. Nassau Financial is community chartered, serving everyone who lives, works, worships, volunteers or attends school in Nassau County, as well as members of their immediate family or household.

In May, NFFCU celebrated its grand opening in a new location in East Meadow on with a ribbon cutting hosted by the East Meadow Chamber of Commerce. The new site, sitting west of Wantagh Parkway in the East Meadow Commons Shopping Center, features four Interactive Teller Machines, a coin machine, video displays, a free coffee bar and a Wi-Fi station, among many other amenities.
