A Seaford High School teacher is under investigation for accidentally projecting a picture of a sexual organ to students in his class on March 15, according to Nassau County police.

As described by a police spokesperson, the incident happened around 10:20 a.m. The teacher plugged in his phone into a laptop connected to a SmartBoard and the image appeared in view of all students in the class.

The teacher took down the photo and apologized to students, with some exiting the class to immediately talk to the school’s principal, according to police. The district notified police on Friday.

The police investigation is still open, with no arrests made and no charges filed, by press time.

Dr. Adele Pecora, superintendent of the Seaford School District, updated parents on the situation on Monday.

“The district takes this matter very seriously,” Pecora wrote. “We contacted the Nassau County Police Department and the district is currently conducting an internal investigation of the circumstances surrounding this incident. The health and safety of our students is the highest priority.”
