The Golden Age of Hollywood Musicals

Join commentator Keith Crocker at the East Meadow Library at 1 p.m. to watch clips from classic movie musicals beginning with the early days of Busby Berkeley and his pre-psychedelic choreographed dance numbers. Then follow the development of the movie musical with footage of Carmen Miranda, Ginger Rogers, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly and classic films such as Singing in the Rain, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, The Sound of Music, and so much more. So put on your dancing shoes, it’s time to celebrate the Hollywood musical in all its glory.

The James Weidman Trio with Tulivu

The incomparable jazz pianist, James Weidman is back at cabaret at the East Meadow Public Library. James has played at Lincoln Center, The Blue Note, and major venues around the world. He has been a Grammy nominee with Joe Lovano. This time he is joined with vocalist Tulivu. She has performed in the Caribbean, Europe, and Canada, and frequently at jazz clubs and festivals in New York City. Come for a very special evening celebrating Ella Fitzgerald. Monster Jam at Nassau Coliseum

Get ready for monster mayhem when the annual Monster Jam hit Nassau Coliseum. Monster Jam is a live motorsport event tour and television show operated by Feld Entertainment. The series is sanctioned under the umbrella of the United States Hot Rod Association. Fans attending a Monster Jam event are given the opportunity to meet the performers during the "Pit Party" and autograph sessions. The drivers autograph memorabilia, clothing, flags and other merchandise at these events. Times are Feb. 2 at 7 p.m., Feb. 3 at 1 p.m., Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. and Feb. 4 at 1 p.m. Tickets start at $29.
