The members of the National Art Honor Society at W.T. Clarke High School brought back an old tradition of using their talents to inspire the sick and needy.

Students created contour line drawings to be included in roughly 200 coloring books that the organization will be printing and distributing through the pediatric center at the Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow.

“They love helping people,” said NAHS Advisor Jane Pawlowski. “They’re a great group of kids.”

In addition to coloring books, the NAHS will be launching a crayon drive with a goal of pairing each book with a box of crayons.

Aleksandra Dauz, a senior at W.T. Clarke High School and president of its NAHS, said that she participated in this project during her sophomore year and wanted to bring it back.

NAHS members visit the NUMC to deliver the books and Dauz described seeing the look of joy on children’s faces when they see a fresh stack being delivered to the waiting room in the pediatric center. “It’s really great to see that and to see where the books are going,” she said.
