A Q&A with Lynbrook’s village board candidates

Posted

Three current board members — one mayor, an appointed deputy mayor, and a sitting trustee, are all running unopposed in this year’s Lynbrook Village elections.
The Herald asked the three candidates why they chose to run again, what they are most proud of about their time already spent on the board, and what some of the issues are in the village.
The polls will be open in Lynbrook on March 18 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Why did you choose to run for election again?

A: “I feel that there is so much more to be done on behalf of the community that I’ve in and cared for for more than 40 years. I believe that, bringing Lynbrook forward into the next century, supervising its growth, and allowing its development, will reflect a modern community with a hometown feel.”

What accomplishments are you most proud of in your time on the board?

A: “I am most proud of addressing the problem under the Atlantic Avenue trestle with the MTA. For more than 10 years, that property was unused and unkempt. Working tirelessly to find a developer who would invest his time and money in Lynbrook was a success, and soon after, the project went full steam ahead. The board and I have watched this project develop — even with all the pitfalls, endless discussions and meetings with the MTA. We believe that the resulting stores will be a beautiful addition to the downtown area.”
