Chamber’s Taste of Lynbrook another successful annual event

Imagine biting into a tender slice of Cajun filet mignon. And then, some creamy lobster mac and cheese. Don’t forget the tacos, the pumpkin ravioli and the Shepherd’s pie. Top it off with a sweet dessert of mini-cakes and infused sherbet, and delicious, fresh-brewed coffee, and you have just a sampling of what was offered at this year’s Taste of Lynbrook.

“This is a great event that allows the Lynbrook Chamber of Commerce a way to showcase restaurants and assisted living facilities here in Lynbrook,” said Chamber President Denise Rogers. “They provide a taste of what they offer in a friendly competition for bragging rights to win the People’s Choice Awards.”

Local restaurants, bakeries and vintners were on hand for this popular event, held at the the St. Mary’s/Maris Stella Council #2228 Knights of Columbus in Lynbrook on Oct. 24.

The event was sponsored by Astoria Federal Bank, Bethpage Credit Union, Herald Community Newspapers, R.A. Krendel Contracting, Crown Ford, and the Kitchen Loft.

Participants for this year’s event were: Angelina’s Pizzeria & Restaurant, Atria Lynbrook, Atria Tangelwood, Brook 23,Classy’s Wine & Liquor, Gourmet Caterers, McQuades, Metro Restaurant, Precious Drops, Pearsall’s Station, P Twelve, SaVino’s, Sweet Peace,Sweet Serendipity, Valencia, Vincent’s Pizzeria & Restaurant and Wraptor’s Grill.

There were “People’s Choice” Gold and Silver Awards for appetizer, entrée, and dessert . The People’s Choice Gold award winners were: Best Appetizer, Atria Tangelwood; Best Entrée, Brook 23 and Best Dessert, The Sweet Peace.

Silver award winners were Valencia, Vincent’s Pizzeria & Restaurant, and Atria Tanglewood. The event’s major sponsors were The Herald, Astoria Bank, and Bethpage Federal Credit Union. The evening’s entertainment was provided by Homer Fanos.
