Candidates run unopposed in school districts

KG: With the Gap Elimination Program still in place, East Rockaway is being starved of necessary financial resources by the state. I will advocate for our community with our elected officials and do my best to mobilize community members to make phone calls and write letters to our representatives. The board and financial director did an amazing job this year staying within an ever restrictive tax cap while preserving all programs. It is my goal to preserve programs and increase opportunities for all children in the schools. As a member of the BAC, I’ve learned so much about the budget process over the past three years and look forward to working with our new Business Superintendent to find creative ways to maximize our resources should our elected officials not deliver on the financial support this community deserves.

What are your goals for the coming year in your district?
NS: To find a way to engage the students who do not work hard and seem to drift thru School without
motivation or goals. To work with our local representatives to bring more State aid to East Rockaway School District. To brainstorm with the administration and other board members to come up with new ways to help our sudents achieve higher goals and be better prepared for college and careers.
