Funds raised to help Lynbrook 8-year-old hemophiliac
A benefit for was held at the Coral House in Baldwin last Friday for Lynbrook third-grader Christopher Ambrosio. Christopher is an 8-year-old with hemophilia, a genetic bleeding disorder. All proceeds from Christopher’s Hemophilia Benefit Dinner will be transferred to the walking team of “Christopher’s Crew.” With the National Hemophilia Foundation’s annual Walk.
Last year, through the dinner, garage sale and other fundraising efforts, Christopher’s Crew raised more than $30,000, and was recognized as the top fundraising team nationwide out of hundreds of teams and 21 different walk sites. Through the public’s support, Ambrosio said, treatments can improve to create a better quality of life for these children and adults.
“This years dinner was incredible!” said Kelly Ambroiso, Christopher’s mother. “The best one yet — over 300 people were in attendance, and more than 200 raffle prizes including a trip to Myrtle Beach, a 42” flat screen tv, and an overnight stay at the Oheka castle. The all new Coral House outdid itself with providing the perfect venue for such a special cause.”
The exact numbers are not confirmed but believed to be over $25,000 from this year’s benefit. Coming up to also support the cause: Eat at Mari Nara’s of Hewlett Monday March 18, and 20 percent of your order will be donated to Christopher’s hemophilia benefit. Make sure you mention Christopher! On March 27 the second annual vendor night will be held at the Vulcan Firehouse in lynbrook from 6:30 to 10 p.m. with a portion of the proceeds donated to Christopher’s hemophilia benefit.
