Crime Watch: East Rockaway, Lynbrook

Arrested in Lynbrook
A Freeport man was arrested in Lynbrook on March 11 for possession of a forged instrument.

According to detectives, Emanuel G. Hernandez, 23, entered Citibank located at 320 Merrick Road and attempted to cash a check using a forged California driver’s license of a California man. The suspect was recognized as the same man who entered the same bank on March 6 and cashed a check for $2,000 using the same license as identification. Officers from the Lynbrook Police Department were called and the suspect was placed under arrest at 9:50 a.m. without incident. He was found to be in possession of a forged California driver’s license and $600 in cash, which was returned to the bank.

Hernandez is charged with second-degree possession of a forged instrument, second-degree forgery, first-degree identity theft and fourth-degree grand larceny. He was scheduled to be arraigned on March 12 at First District Court in Hempstead.

Arrests
 At 2 p.m. on March 6, A 41-year-old of Lynbrook, was arrested for shoplifting at Walmart at 77 Green Acres Road, Valley Stream.

A 26-year-old of Lynbrook, was arrested for possessing marijuana on March 8 at 12:05 a.m. in South Farmingdale.

On March 12 at 7:53 p.m., a 35-year-old, of East Rockaway, was arrested and charged with criminal contempt on Sampson Place in Lynbrook.

At 4:30 p.m. on March 14, 35-year-old, of New York Mills, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and registration plate violation on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook.

A 51-year-old, of East Rockaway, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, suspended registration, improper registration plate, unregistered motor vehicle and uninsured motor vehicle on Forest Avenue in Lynbrook on March 16 at 9:05 p.m.

Lost property
 At 10:42 a.m. on March 12, a complainant, an employee of Sunrise Volkswagen, reported the loss of a New York State dealer registration plate from the vicinity of the dealership located at 931 Sunrise Hwy., Lynbrook
