East Rockaway Capital One robbed for second time in a week

Posted

The Capital One Bank in East Rockaway was robbed for the second time in a week on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

Police confirmed a robbery occurred earlier this afternoon at the bank, located at 115 Main St. in East Rockaway. The suspect then fled in a car with an unknown amount of U.S. currency. No injuries are believed to have occurred.

According to an eye-witness who works across the street from the bank, a man with dark clothing ran from the bank after the robbery, getting into the passenger side of a car that was waiting roughly halfway down the street.

Police are still investigating the incident, and it remains unknown if the most recent robbery is connected to last week’s robbery. At 2:38 p.m. on March 10, police say a suspect, described as a 5-foot-9 white male with an average build, blue eyes and a tattoo under his left eye, robbed the bank before fleeing East on Rhame Avenue on foot.
