Lenahan, Santino to co-host Town Hall meeting in East Rockaway

Posted

Hempstead Town Councilman Anthony Santino will join East Rockaway Mayor Fran Lenahan in hosting a joint Town Hall meeting on Wednesday, April 10 at 7:30 p.m. at East Rockaway Village Hall. Santino and Lenahan will discuss important community issues and be available to answer questions and concerns from local residents.

“Town Hall Meetings are one way in which government officials can communicate with the people, helping us to work together toward the common goal of maintaining our excellent quality of life,” said Santino. “I urge local residents to attend this meeting on April 10 at East Rockaway Village Hall.”

Representatives from different Town of Hempstead departments will be on hand to address issues in the community. Santino will be joined by the Town of Hempstead Building Department, which will be on hand to answer questions and explain how the town has expedited its permitting process to help residents repair their homes. This includes waiving building permit fees for “in-kind” reconstruction (for residents of unincorporated areas) and replacement of Sandy-damaged homes, as well as eliminating a town requirement that homeowners obtain a variance prior to increasing their home’s foundation height to comply with FEMA flood height guidelines. Also, permit fees are waived for homeowners using a temporary trailer during construction.

East Rockaway Village Hall is located at 376 Atlantic Avenue in East Rockaway.
