“Having it on display at ROK did get a lot of attention,” said the club’s director of operations Craig D’Urso, “It stood out … people asked about it, and when they heard what is was all about, they wanted to be a part of it. We wrote their names on a wall in the club … and they felt a sense of accomplishment.”

More than 200 people attended ROK’s annual holiday party, on Dec. 11, at which the chair was presented to Levi.

“I can’t think of a better cause to rally around,” said Bob D’Urso. “This brought the community together. As we saw with the hurricane, ordinary people came together to do extraordinary things — and now they did it again. It’s an American phenomenon: We take care of our own. No one else does it better than ‘we, the people.’”
