The New York Times is reporting that Senator Dean Skelos and his son, Adam, may be arrested as early as Monday, May 4.

Skelos, the senate's Majority Leader and a Republican from Rockville Centre, and his son were reportedly under investigation by U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara last month. Though Bharara's office wouldn't comment, he was allegedly investigating a contract that Nassau County awarded to a company Skelos's son worked for, and whether or not the senator influenced that decision.

Though charges have yet to be formally filed, the Times reported on the evening of May 1 that they would likely include include conspiracy, extortion and solicitation of bribes.

If arrested, Skelos would be the second Albany leader to be charged by Bharara, who pledged to clean up corruption in the capital after Gov. Andrew Cuomo abruptly disbanded the Moreland Commission last year.
