Strawberry Festival
It’s strawberry festival time once again. The 2015 version of the Nassau County Strawberry Festival, sponsored by the Bellmore Kiwanis and Lions clubs, features strawberry delights, and carnival rides and attractions, including live entertainment. This year’s headliner Who Loves You?, the Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons tribute band, performs on Saturday, at 7 p.m. There will also be plenty of craft vendors to browse among, while you are munching on all sorts of strawberry creations — including strawberry shortcake, strawberry cheesecake, chocolate covered strawberries, and more. And for those interested in food eating competitions, be sure to check out the pie eating contests.
Thursday, May 28, 6-10 p.m.; Friday, May 29, 6-11 p.m.; Saturday, May 30, noon-11 p.m.; Sunday, May 31, noon-6 p.m. BOCES School, Jerusalem Ave. and Newbridge Rd., North Bellmore. For information, visit www.nassaucountystrawberryfestival.com.

In Concert

South Shore Symphony
Before the orchestra performs its benefit concert at the Madison Theatre next week, the orchestra, under the baton of Music Director Scott Jackson Wiley, celebrates spring with an uplifting performance at St. Agnes Cathedral. This popular concert continues a tradition of more than a decade of musical collaboration with St. Agnes’ music department. The 80-member orchestra shares the stage with the 100 voices of the Diocesan Chorus and the Choir of Rockville Centre, under the direction of Michael Bower and Michael Wustrow. The program includes the stirring Tchaikovsky Symphony n. 6 op. 74 in B minor, Pathétique, last performed by the South Shore Symphony 10 years ago.
Sunday May 31, 7:30 p.m. Free admission; a donation of $15 requested. St. Agnes Cathedral, 29 Quealy Place, Rockville Centre. Visit www.sssymphony.org for further information.
