Billy Joel tribute
The “Piano Man” receives a hometown salute when the Movin’ Out band rocks the stage at Eisenhower Park’s Lakeside Theatre. The dynamic original band from the Tony Award-winning, Grammy-nominated Broadway musical “Movin’ Out,” puts their special spin on Billy Joel’s many hits. The Movin’ Out band includes several members of Billy Joel’s own band, and is fronted by pianist-vocalist Wade Preston, the original “Piano Man” from the hit musical, who was hand-selected to perform the role by Billy Joel himself. Preston and his bandmates will get the audience grooving as they play tunes from “The Stranger” album, along with many other classic Joel favorites. Zebra’s Randy Jackson also appears as a special guest, performing a 40th anniversary tribute to Led Zeppelin’s “Physical Graffiti.”
Friday, July 3, 7 p.m. Bring seating. Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre, located near parking fields 6 and 6A, Eisenhower Park, East Meadow. (516) 572-0200.

Fourth of July Fun

Independence Day 19th century-style
Step back in time for a rousing Fourth of July as it would have been commemorated in 1865 at the end of the Civil War at Old Bethpage Village Restoration. The village celebrates the return of Civil War veterans, the preservation of the Union, and the 89th anniversary of the nation’s independence in this tribute to a bygone era. Activities include traditional fiddle music, military drills, parade and ceremony starting at 2:30 p.m., and a reading of the Declaration of Independence. Also enjoy a brass band concert, fiddle music, contra dancing, and craft demonstrations, with 19th century games for the kids. Visitors are invited to bring picnic lunches and relax to the sounds of some patriotic tunes in the background.
Saturday and Sunday, July 4-5, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. $10, $7 children 5-12 and seniors. Old Bethpage Village Restoration, Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage. (516) 572-8401.
