Assemblyman Brian Curran recently awarded Lynbrook $50,000 in state funding to assist with a project to improve a section of local road. The funds will go toward resurfacing Oak Street between Denton Avenue and Lynbrook Avenue, as well as improving drainage in the same area. The funds have been awarded through the State and Municipal Facilities Program.

“Our local roads take a beating every year from heavy traffic and harsh weather conditions,” Curran said in a release. “The village is looking to make repairs and upgrades to Oak Street to make the road safer and to prevent flooding. The safety of our residents is paramount, and I am pleased to award this grant to the village of Lynbrook to upgrade our local infrastructure.”

Curran, a Lynbrook resident, said he hopes that transportation grant money will provide Lynbrook with fiscal flexibility to now provide needed funding for equipment for its Fire Department and for the purchase of additional security cameras throughout the village.

Village officials applied for the grant with the assistance of Curran to help offset the costs of this project in an effort to limit the burden on local taxpayers.

“I wish to thank Assemblyman Brian Curran for the recent grant he gave to Lynbrook and its residents,” Mayor William Hendrick said in a release. “It was appreciated and will be put to good use for our upcoming projects for all our families. Thank you Brian for always thinking of Lynbrook.”
