Crime Watch: East Rockaway, Lynbrook

Arrests

On April 4 at 9:10 p.m., a 51-year-old man, of Cedarhurst, was arrested and charged with driving a vehicle while intoxicated, and failure to signal on Peninsula Boulevard.

A 43-year-old man, of the Bronx, was located, arrested and charged with an open New York City warrant for possession of a forged instrument on April 5 at 1 a.m.

On April 5 at 9:40 p.m., a 46-year-old man, of Deer Park, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, and faulty exhaust on Peninsula Boulevard.

 A 27-year-old man, of Bellrose, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance (concentrated cannabis), unlawful possession of marijuana and faulty exhaust on Ocean Avenue on April 6 at 7:19 p.m.

On April 8 at 9:35 p.m., a 17-year-old, of Valley Stream, was arrested and charged with assault and criminal mischief stemming from an incident that occurred at Greis Park.


On April 9 at 4:24 p.m., Lynbrook officers responded to a call for an apparent argument outside of a residence on Ocean Avenue. Upon arrival, officers approached two males, and one fled on foot southbound on Ocean Avenue. During a brief struggle, a loaded Cobra 380 pistol fell from the waistband of Reginald Lecator 30, of Lynbrook. Lecator was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a firearm and two counts of possession of a weapon.

Criminal mischief
On April 4 at 7:25 a.m. a resident of Crab Avenue reported that someone cut holes into the passenger side tires of his 2014 grey Kia Sorrento. Upon further inspection he also found large scratches on the passenger side doors, fender and quarter panel. The incident occurred between 7 p.m. on April 3 and 6 a.m. on April 4. The total damage was approximately $1,400.

Burglary
On April 5 at 11:40 a.m. a man reported that he heard the first floor dining room door open while he was upstairs in his residence on Oak Street. When he went downstairs to investigate, he discovered a male, dark complexion, approximately six feet tall, heavy set, wearing blue jeans, brown jacket and a black hat standing in the dining room. When he was discovered, the male fled from the house, jumping the rear fence in the backyard. Damage discovered to the dining room door was estimated to be approximately $400.

Criminal impersonation
On April 11 at 11:35 p.m. a man reported that he received a letter from the Internal Revenue Service informing him that someone used his name, information and social security number to file a federal tax return in his name for the year 2015. No personal loss was incurred.
