Cops: Man illegally entered woman’s car in East Rockaway

Nassau County police are searching for a man who illegally entered a woman’s car on April 3 at 11:28 a.m.

According to detectives, a black male approached an 83-year-old woman as she was placing shopping bags in her car, which was parked in the Best Market parking lot at 492 Atlantic Avenue in East Rockaway. He told the woman that he would return her shopping cart, and the woman got into her car.

The man then got into the car through the passenger’s side door. When the victim attempted to exit the vehicle, the man grabbed her. The woman was able to pull her arm away, exit the vehicle and yell for help. She then ran toward Ocean Avenue. No injuries were reported.

The male is described as being between the heights of 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-10 with facial hair. He was wearing dark clothes and a dark baseball cap.
