A Coram man who threw illegal drugs at U.S. Marshals after crashing into a tree outside of a Lynbrook home during a pursuit was arrested on June 28.

Cory Cornish, 27, was taken into custody on a Suffolk County warrant for assault and a New York state parole warrant after speeding away from members of the U.S. Fugitive Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Task Force in his Jaguar. The chase ended at Brower Place and Earle Avenue after Cornish’s vehicle crashed into a tree on a residential lawn.

When the officers attempted to arrest him, Cornish threw illegal drugs at them and seven of the nine members of the task force were taken to the hospital for evaluation and eventually cleared. It is unclear what type of drugs Cornish threw at them. Lynbrook police officers also arrived at the scene when the incident occurred.

Cornish was taken into custody and transported to a local medical facility after the crash.
