Crime watch: Lynbrook, East Rockaway

Arrests

A 43-year-old Long Beach man was arrested on July 18 at 1:05 p.m. and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance (heroin), unlawful possession of marijuana and operating a motor vehicle while using a hand held cell phone on Ocean Avenue.

On July 19 at 9:05 p.m., a 57-year-old man was arrested and charged with stalking for incidents that occurred at 1 Sunrise Hwy. in Lynbrook.

On July 20 at 7:29 p.m., a 20-year-old Valley Stream resident was arrested and charged with stalking, endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of coercion for incidents that occurred on Northumberland Gate.

On July 21 at 5:48 a.m., a 20-year-old man from Lynbrook was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument and two counts of driving while intoxicated on Forest Avenue.

At 1:50 a.m. on July 22, a 54-year-old Island Park man was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, unlicensed operation and failure to signal on Merrick Road.

A 30-year-old man from Valley Stream was arrested on July 23 at 8:24 p.m. and charged with petit larceny and criminal trespass for an incident that occurred on Concord Street.

A 16-year-old man from West Hempstead was arrested on July 23 at 7:27 p.m. and charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property on Whitehall Street.

Grand larceny

A sales person at the AT&T store on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook reported that on July 17 at 5 p.m., an unknown man entered the store and stole five Apple iPhones and one Apple iPad from the display counter. The suspect was described as a black man, about 35-years-old, 6-foot-3 inches tall, about 250 pounds, with short black hair, and was wearing black pants, a gray T-shirt, red hat and black shoes. The total amount of loss was nearly $5,000.

The manager of Michael’s Electrical Supply Corp. on Merrick Road, reported that between July 10 and July 18, orders were placed for almost $65,000 worth of merchandise with a fraudulent credit card.

Petit larceny

A person reported that between 11 p.m. on July 17 and 7:30 a.m. on July 18, an unknown person broke into their 2015 Nissan, which was parked in their driveway at 30 Ocean Ave., and stole the Pioneer Radio, a Polaroid dash cam and a red Gucci wallet that had $100 in it. The person also caused $500 worth of damage to the dashboard of the car. The total amount of loss was $975.

Between 4 a.m. and 4 p.m. on July 20, an unknown suspect entered a complainant’s fenced-in yard and stole $206 worth of food and drinks from their refrigerator.

Criminal trespass

A complainant reported that on July 25 at 5:29 p.m., an unknown person entered their apartment at the Atria Tanglewood.
