East Rockaway woman arrested for embezzling

An East Rockaway woman was arrested on March 27 at 9:35 a.m. for stealing money from her employer.

According to Nassau County Police, Nancy Cook, 45, of East Rockaway, was working as a home health aide from September 2018 through January 2019, when she forged signatures on 110 of her employer’s checks and cashed them for almost $31,000.

Cook was taken into custody without incident, police reported, and is charged with third-degree grand larceny and second-degree possession of a forged instrument. She was scheduled to be arraigned at the First District Court in Hempstead on March 27.
