Family fun for all at Rolling River Day Camp in East Rockaway's Fall Fest

Rolling River Day Camp hosted its 23rd annual Fall Festival on Oct. 19, when the campgrounds were bustling with energy as nearly 2,000 people took part in some fall fun.

Guests were encouraged to explore the camp, which hosted a variety of family friendly activities. At the arts and crafts center, children decorated trick-or-treat bags and foam pumpkins with festive Halloween stamps, stickers and more. In the kids’ zone, attendees played carnival games and participated in gymnastics, sand art, watercolor painting and cross fit activities.

On the main stage, displays such as dance routines, musical performances, martial arts and baton twirling carried on throughout the duration of the event. There was also a costume contest and to reinforce the sense of community support, all of the entertainment, including vendors selling apparel, books and more, were run by local businesses. CVS Pharmacy was also on-hand to administer flu shots.

The festival’s maine attraction was the ride zone, where families participated in pony rides and young attendees had a chance to hop around in the bounce house. Lines of eagerly waiting boys and girls stood near the face painting station and attendees were treated to balloon art creations, a trackless train ride and an opportunity to pet farm animals at the petting zoo.

Another feature of the event was a barbecue cookout for all in attendance, who got to much on hot dogs, hamburgers, corn on the cob, desserts and snacks.
