Longtime Lynbrook and Manhattan resident Nicholas Biondi died on Dec. 28. He was 82.

Biondi owned a business, working as a financial advisor, broker and real estate entrepreneur in the early days of cooperative buildings in Manhattan, and later, Garden City.

As a Golden Gloves boxer in 1954, Biondi had three first-round knockouts, which made him the subject of many photos by famous photographer Garry Winogrand. The photos are still displayed in museums all over the world, of which he and his wife, Elizabeth, were invited to attend as celebrated guests throughout the years.

Biondi was loved by and will be missed by many. Visitors were welcomed at Donza Funeral Home in East Rockaway on Jan. 2. A funeral Mass was held on Jan. 3 at St. Raymond’s Church in East Rockaway, and a second Mass took place at St. Stanislaus Church, in Amsterdam, N.Y., on Jan. 5, followed by his burial at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

Biondi was predeceased by his parents, Nicolena (D’Amato) and Salvatore Biondi, of Italy and Manhattan, respectfully. In addition to Elizabeth, Biondi is survived by his children, Scott (Jaime) and Kim; his grandchildren, Evan and Brett; his sister Ann Mastri (Thomas); his nieces and nephews; and many close friends.
