Officials schedule public meeting about Greis Park Master Plan

Lynbrook village officials have scheduled a public information meeting for April 22 at 6:30 p.m. at Village Hall, where more information about the Greis Park Master Plan will be shared.

The evening will include a presentation by representatives of GreenPlay, LLC, about the initial findings, survey results and preliminary recommendations developed, and will request feedback and input from residents, including business owners, special interest groups and any other interested parties.

The Master Plan will look at the existing park, recreational facilities, programs, and services, and determine the current and future level of services for the community based on public feedback. The plan will prioritize the needs and desires for upgrading and improving Greis Park, including its amenities, programs and services.

Village officials hosted focus groups, stakeholder meetings and a public input session in January to gather information. Community input is an important part of this process and helps the board tailor the plan to reflect the community’s needs,

A needs assessment survey was conducted in February. About 3,000 surveys were mailed to a random sampling of village residents. Their responses provided statistically valid results.

In addition, all residents who did not receive the mailed invitation survey were invited to provide feedback and input through an online survey that launched at the end of February and remained open until the beginning of April. All Lynbrook residents were encouraged to take the survey and share their thoughts on parks and recreation needs and priorities for Greis Park. The responses will be tallied separately from the statistically valid survey and provide valuable feedback and will be included in the final report.

The results of the information gathered will be used to determine the needs and desires for upgrading and improving Greis Park’s recreational facilities, amenities, programs, and services.

GreenPlay, LLC is a nationally known parks and recreation management consulting firm and will oversee the plan. For more information regarding either the Greis Park Master Plan or the survey, contact Park Supervisor Patrick McDermott at (516) 599.8300 or pmcdermott@lynbrookvillage.com
