Red Riding Hood
Siblings on a sleepover at their grandmother’s house have trouble falling in asleep in this innovative musical adaptation of “Little Red Riding Hood,” which brings a whole new meaning to ‘storytime’.  To pass the time, Bridget and Stephen decide to act out their favorite story with items found in their room. Soon what’s real and what’s imagined begins to blur, and the children find themselves in the deep dark woods with a wolf tracking them down. Settle in for an interactive take on the beloved fairy tale, in this lively performance on the Long Island Children’s Museum stage.
Tuesday through Saturday, Dec. 27-31, 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. $9 with museum admission ($7 members), $12 theater only. Long Island Children’s Museum, Museum Row, Garden City. (516) 224-5800 or www.licm.org.

Ringing in the New Year

Laughin’ Rockin’ New Year’s Eve
Salute the New Year with some laughs and a nostalgic beat at a “Laughin’ Rockin’ New Year’s Eve” celebration. The festivities begin with champagne and hors d’oeuvres, followed by a comic showcase presented by the Long Island Comedy Festival. It’s all topped off with some lively tunes from the Chiclettes and The Happenings, who finish off 2016 with some ‘60s and ‘70s hits. The lineup of creative comedy pros, all direct from the 50+ Comedy Tour that launched this summer, contribute their unique insights to a lively evening of stand-up. Rob Falcone, an actor-comedian who is never at loss for words and moves from the club circuit to HBO, Showtime and other TV gigs with ease, is joined by master impressionist Eric Haft and Tina Giorgi, a familiar face on the NYC comedy scene, who relies on a blend of wit and commentary to charm her audiences.
Saturday, Dec. 31, 7 p.m.; 6 p.m. cocktail hour. $35-$65 ($65 ticket includes admission to cocktail party). Madison Theatre, Molloy College, 1000 Hempstead Ave., Rockville Centre. (516) 323-4444 or www.madisontheatreny.org.
