A Lynbrook man was arrested on Jan. 16 for allegedly burglarizing a gas station two days earlier that he was said to frequent, according to Nassau County police.

Police said the owner of the store reviewed surveillance video after the crime and said he recognized Joseph Monaco, 30, of Earle Avenue, because he is a regular customer.

Police said he allegedly pried open the lock on the front door of a Lynbrook BP gas station, at 440 Sunrise Hwy. on Jan. 14 at 6:10 a.m., and stole $30 worth of cigarettes and $150 worth of lottery scratch-offs. Officers arrested Monaco at his home on Jan. 16.

He was charged with third-degree burglary and was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Tuesday.
