The cause of a fire that occurred in a basement apartment on Savoy Avenue in Elmont on April 30 is not known, according to detectives.

The Arson/Bomb Squad says that there was a 39-year-old female occupant who was taken to a local hospital for burns to her left leg. Three children were also in the apartment: a six-year-old girl, four-year-old girl and six-month-old male, all of whom were taken to a local hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.

The Elmont Fire Department , Nassau County Fire Marshalls and 4th Precinct police officers were at the scene. Detectives say that while the cause of the fire is not know, it does not appear to have been suspicious.
