Introducing Nassau County’s First Fully-Automated Self-Service Circulation System: Friday, Dec. 12, 4 p.m.

The Elmont Memorial Library is proud to introduce the first Fully-Automated Self-Service Circulation System in Nassau County. Since Nov. 25, the Library integrated RFID technology into their systems, pioneering its use for contemporary library functions. The massive circulation desk that once encompassed the front section of the Library is now replaced by four completely self-serve check-out stations and two return stations. Patrons are able to easily scan their Library card, stack the books of their choosing onto the new machines, and be finished with ease, allowing the staff to spend more time with patrons. Returned books are easily fed into one of the two return stations and automatically sorted to their correct destinations without taking up precious staff time. Overdue fines are paid for by cash or credit at the self-check machine. Materials are now returned to the shelves quicker and more efficiently. This new self-service circulation system is in effect for most materials borrowed from the Library from all of the departments.

Join us at the Elmont Memorial Library, 700 Hempstead Tpke., Elmont, Friday, Dec. 12 at 4 p.m. for the official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony introducing this new improvement to the community and embracing yet another transition in making this Elmont’s extraordinary Library, serving the communities of Elmont, Stewart Manor, Alden Manor, South Floral Park, and parts of North Valley Stream, East Franklin Square and New Hyde Park!
