Elmont Memorial High School’s MUN Team participated in the Rutgers University Model United Nations Conference from Nov.15 to Nov. 18. During this four-day simulation of diplomatic dialogue, students represented their assigned country. They participated in debates and proposed resolutions within their respective committees, highlighting some of the most pressing issues affecting our global community today.

Students have the opportunity to work toward developing their analytical and communication skills, while at the same time widening their perspectives, engaging them as global citizens and allowing them to grow as both students and leaders. Twelve enthusiastic Elmont Memorial High School students represented the nation of Italy and were eager to make an impact in their assigned committees. Due to their efforts, the team won “The Outstanding School” award.

Members of the award winning team included Christina Ashby, Michael Bediako, Akan Brown, Christian Butron, Leanna Faulk, Isaiah Geneo, Claudine Isaac, Chukwudi Kanu, Darnell Marescot, Crystal Nwaogbe, Ashley Reese and Mykelle Richburg.

Darnell Marescot, Isaiah Geneo, Michael Bediako, Akan Brown, Crystal Nwaogbe, Ashley Reese and Mykelle Richburg earned individual committee awards.
