Nassau County police arrested an Elmont man last Saturday after an armed robbery they say he committed on Oct. 11 at the Dunkin’ Donuts on West Merrick Road in Valley Stream.

According to police, Tyrone Pierre, 20, of Oakley Avenue, posted a classified advertisement on Craigslist, offering 10 Apple 5S iPhones, and agreed to meet a 23-year-old man who responded. After giving Pierre the cash for the phones, police said, the buyer began to open one of the boxes to verify that the phone was inside, and Pierre took out a black handgun, pointed it at the man and threatened him before fleeing with the cash. No injuries were reported.

Detectives arrested Pierre at his home the following day. He was charged with first-degree robbery, criminal use of a firearm and criminal possession of marijuana, and was arraigned on Monday in First District Court in Hempstead.

Detectives ask any other victims of similar crimes to contact the Nassau County Police Department’s 4th Squad at (516) 573-6400.
