Overcast Elmont man charged with attempted burglary

An Elmont man was arrested on July 4 in the backyard of an Elmont home that Nassau County police said he tried to break into.
Police found Justin Luna, 20, of Stone Street, behind another Stone Street home when they responded to the 59-year-old female resident’s call about a noise on her roof. Police said that one of the home’s window screens had been cut and an attached garage had been ransacked.
No items were taken, police said.
Luna was charged with second-degree attempted burglary. He was arraigned on July 5 at First District Court in Hempstead.
