A Few Clouds Pedestrian struck on Hempstead Turnpike

The Fourth Squad reports the details of a serious auto accident that occurred on Thursday, Oct. 9, at 7:20 a.m. in Elmont.
According to detectives, a male pedestrian, 73, was crossing Hempstead Turnpike in a northerly direction just west of Lucille Avenue. He was struck by a 2008 Honda driven by a woman, 55 years of age. Extensive sun glare limited her visibility. The victim suffered serious head injuries and was taken to an area hospital where he is listed in critical condition as of Thursday night.
A brake and safety check was conducted at the scene. No criminality is suspected.
