Gulf minimart robbed early Saturday morning

Nassau County police are searching for a man who robbed a gas station in the early morning hours Saturday in Merrick.

According to police, at 1:25 a.m., a male black suspect entered the Gulf minimart at 2030 Sunrise Highway with a handgun and demanded cash from the register. The clerk complied, giving the suspect an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect, who was described by the clerk as 6-feet tall and 195 pounds, wearing all black clothing including black gloves and a black mask, was last seen fleeing on foot northbound across Sunrise Highway toward the Merrick train station, police said.
