As if coping with single-digit temperatures the last few days weren't bad enough, three to four inches of snow fell through the night into Tuesday morning on Long Island’s south shore, enough to make driving — and walking — hazardous. The snow was expected to end around noon Tuesday and sunshine peaked out about 10:30.

The National Weather Service reported that there will be "light snow likely before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 21. Wind chill values between 5 and 10. North wind 8 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible."

Tuesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 13. Wind chill values between 5 and 10. Northwest wind 3 to 5 mph.

Wednesday: A slight chance of snow showers after 1pm. Sunny, with a high near 30. Wind chill values between 10 and 20. Light and variable wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
