Sewanhaka displays pride at Homecoming

Sewanhaka High School students and staff, along with Board of Education members, district administrators and visiting community members, came together for the school’s annual Homecoming celebration on Oct. 5.

There, members of each class marched through the streets in floats, as community members cheered them on. This year’s float theme was movies, and the films represented included “Finding Nemo,” “Pokémon” and “Toy Story 2.” They were led by homecoming king Sebastian Morales and queen Keziah Joseph.

Once the parade was complete, the focus turned to the Anthony T. Dwyer Memorial Field, where senior football players and Rockettes were introduced. At halftime, the family of Anthony T. Dwyer, who died in the line of duty 30 years ago, was recognized with flowers. Following that, the marching band and Rockettes performed.

“I’m in awe of the hard work that’s put in by everyone who helps homecoming come together,” Superintendent James Grossane said. “I couldn’t be prouder to be in such a wonderful district and at such a wonderful school.”
