Approximately 100 bicyclists took to the back roads of Woodmere and Hewlett and raised $5,000 that will be donated to the survivors of the Boston Marathon bombing and the Moore, Okla. tornadoes through the Congregation Sons of Israel and Irving Place Minyan’s bike-a-thon on June 9.

If New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly were trying during an April 25 news conference to reassure the public that the city’s security infrastructure was tight enough to stave off a terrorist attack, they weren’t doing a very good job of it.
