It was about 18 years ago that the orthopedic doctors in Cedarhurst diagnosed that herniated discs caused my back pain. Luckily for me physical therapy was prescribed.

I am proud to say I graduated Brooklyn College in 1970. I was a student during the turmoil of the Vietnam War. Demonstrations became an everyday occurrence after the tragic shooting of four students at Kent State in Ohio on May 4, 1970.

My mom passed away May 14, 1999. Five days after Mother’s Day. It took many years for me to find consolation in the phrase “Happy Mothers Day” even though I am a mom myself. My kids would bring comforting gifts but my heart wasn’t in it. My own mom was gone.
