On the Road Again

A potpourri of romantic getaways and delights for Valentine’s Day

Posted

There’s always a smattering of ways to cherish our loved ones and celebrate the hopeless romantics on Valentine’s Day. This year is no exception. There’s the chance to hit the packed powder and enjoy après ski, enjoy romance in the Eternal City, Rome or go on a timeless safari to South Africa.
Just in case you didn’t get your fill of snow after all the digging out from Winter Storm Nemo, you can celebrate your love at the mountain of Mount-Saine Anne and Stoneham Mountain Resort. On Feb. 14, give your valentine a gift of the outdoors and hit the slopes with a 2-for-1 promotion on lift tickets. Top the day off with a delicious meal at the Feu-Follet restaurant that is served with a view of the slopes. The restaurant has created an economic and gastronomic “table d’hôte” for $68 for two people. The dinner includes an appetizer, soup, main dish, desert, tea/coffee and a bottle of wine. Continue to make the day and night unforgettable by taking advantage of the Hotel Stoneham’s $175 lodging and spa package which includes balneotherapy and massage at the hotel’s Halte O Spa.
If you want to make a special weekend, then add culture to the celebration with a romantic weekend in the Eternal City of Rome. Have dinner on a rooftop terrace overlooking the city, wander through the narrow streets and enjoy one of my favorite dishes, cannelloni at the amazing trattorias and cafes and visit the wonders of the Roman Forum, Colosseum and Santa Maria Maggiore and the beautiful green of the Borghese Gardens. Of course, don’t miss shopping for a romantic gift and if you’re lucky, a bargain at Gucci on the Via Nazionale or Via Condotti.
