A Shell gas station on Rosedale Road in North Woodmere became the latest in a string of armed robberies across Nassau County, when a man armed with a knife allegedly stole an unspecified amount of money at 9:21 p.m. on Monday, police said.
The man went behind the counter where the clerk was standing and took a black metal cash register and fled on foot heading west on Rosedale Avenue towards Queens, according to police. The clerk had previously left the store and called police.
There were no customers at the gas station at the time, and no injuries were reported, police said. County police are currently investigating a dozen armed robberies. It is unclear if the one in North Woodmere is connected to those 12.
Police said the man is black and was wearing a black ski mask, black jacket and blue jeans. They are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-8477. All calls are kept confidential.
