Atlantic Beach Rescue elects 2017 officers

Atlantic Beach Rescue, a volunteer emergency response unit, elected its officers for the new year.

Jonathan Kohan is, chief of department; Avi Golan is assistant chief; William is the captain; Phil Rapoport is the lieutenant of the rescue branch and Victoria Simao is the lieutenant of the medical branch. Jill Liebensfeld was elected as both department secretary and a member of the board, and Todd Siegel was elected to the board. Murray Schaffner was re-elected as treasurer.

Members provide pre-hospital advanced life support and technical land and water-based rescue services to the Village of Atlantic Beach and surrounding communities, when called to respond 24-7-365.

The squad received an Honorable Mention Distinction as Emergency Medical Services Agency of the Year for 2015. Members take pride in their community involvement and for the 15th consecutive year the squad’s families and friends took part in the “Captain Queeg” Etrog Honorary Polar Bear Swim in Atlantic Beach on New Year’s Day.
