Cedarhurst candidates deserve your vote

Posted

Once again, village board candidates running unopposed in Cedarhurst. There has not been a challenged trustee election in the village since 1989.
This year, two potential candidates, Daniel Burg and Yeol Goldfeder, withdrew from the race, deciding not to run following the death of longtime Cedarhurst Mayor Andrew Parise.
That’s fine for them, but their decision leaves village residents with no choices, unless write-in candidates emerge on Election Day.
Nonetheless, even unopposed, the post-election village board will have a new look. Deputy Mayor Benjamin Weinstock was appointed to the top executive spot after Parise died, and now Weinstock is running for mayor in his own right. His experience serving as the village liaison with the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department, and overseeing such projects as the sewer system transfer to the county, is valued.
Israel Wasser, who served on Cedarhurst’s zoning board prior to his appointment as a trustee last month, is a widely respected community member who we think will make a constructive contribution to the village.
Incumbent Trustee Ari Brown, a businessman who runs his own real estate design company, has been a valuable asset, working in conjunction with the Cedarhurst Business Improvement District to help ensure that commerce stays strong and the occupancy rate of commercial space remains high in the village.
On Election Day, March 18, come out to vote at Village Hall and support Weinstock, Wasser and Brown.
