Hewlett High School hosted the NYC/Long Island FIRST Tech Challenge qualifying tournament last Sunday. Fifteen high schools and organizations and 19 robot teams took part in the day-long event.
There were opening ceremonies, qualifying, elimination and final rounds where the robots needed to complete set tasks and an awards ceremony.
Hewlett’s Roboboogie team won the Motivate Award that is given to the team with the best team spirit and finished third overall. The Innovo team from Hewlett finished in eighth place. Bionica, the host Hewlett team, and Roboboogie, advance to the next round with several other award winners.
