A fire that damaged a house at 441 Argyle Road in Cedarhurst on Aug. 2 is under investigation by the Nassau County Fire Marshal, Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Chief John McHugh said.

The LCFD received the call at 5:30 a.m., and responded to the vacant home. “When I arrived smoke was pushing out of the eaves and roof,” McHugh said, adding that the house was undergoing repairs from damage suffered in Hurricane Sandy.

In total 50 firefighters, half from the LCFD and other from the Hewlett, Inwood and Woodmere fire departments had the fire under control in 30 minutes, McHugh said. “There was extensive damage to the second floor,” he said, noting there were no reported injuries due to the blaze.
