Police seeks public's help, two assaults in Inwood

Two sought in Lawrence store robbery
Nassau County Crime Stoppers and the police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man and woman who allegedly stole four Coach pocketbooks valued at about $1,000 from the DWS store at 345 Rockaway Turnpike in Lawrence on May 5 at approximately 11 a.m., according to police.
Anyone with information about this incident should call 1-800-244-8477. All calls are kept confidential. There is up to a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.

Man and a woman assaulted in Inwood

Frederick Walker, 43, of Beach 40th Street, Far Rockaway, was arrested for assaulting a woman and a man on Bayview Avenue in Inwood at 9:40 p.m. July 5, according to police.
During a dispute, Walker grabbed the woman, 56, and threw her onto the hot coals from a barbecue grill that he intentionally knocked over onto the sidewalk, police said. Then Walker hit the woman’s head against the sidewalk and stabbed her in the neck with a utensil. A man, 59, intervened and tried to pull Walker away from the woman, and he was pushed onto the coals. Both the woman and man were taken to a local hospital and treated for cuts and burns to their arms, hands and legs.
Walker was charged with three counts of assault-second degree and criminal possession of a weapon-third degree.

Group of eight robs man
A group of eight teenagers between 15 and 18 allegedly attacked and robbed a man, 36, in Inwood at 11:55 p.m. on July 5, police said.
The man was walking home when he was hit from behind at the intersection of Brunswick Avenue and Doughty Boulevard They continued to strike him in the head and back and he fell to the ground, according to police. They took his cell phone and wallet that contained an unspecified amount of money, then fled on foot heading west on Brunswick Avenue. The man was taken to a local hospital and treated for injuries to his head and ankle.
Police said there were four young men and four young women, all are black, with slim builds and at least one is 5-feet, 9-inches tall.

WESTBURY- Andrew J. DeLuca, 29, of Hewlett was arrested for possession of marijuana at the AMC Lowes Raceway Theatre on Corporate Drive at 8 p.m. on June 30, according to police.

Grand larceny
HEWLETT- A gray 2014 Toyota Highlander was stolen on Harris Avenue between 2:30 and 7:14 a.m. on June 30, police said.

Larceny from auto

HEWLETT-A woman reported that property was taken from her vehicle parked on Peninsula Boulevard between 3 and 5:10 p.m. on June, authorities said.

Petit larceny
CEDARHURST-Between 12:30 ad 7:30 a.m. on June 27, a bicycle was stolen from an unlocked garage on Leroy Avenue, officials said.

Criminal mischief
HEWLETT- Police said a man on Lakeview Drive reported that his home’s screen door was damaged between 7 and 11:30 p.m. on June 28.
HEWLETT-A woman reported that the passenger-side door handle of her vehicle parked at Hewlett Plaza was damaged between 2:20 and 3:30 p.m. on June 30, according to police.
