Flashcomm, the virtual enterprise company comprised of Hewlett High School students, finished second in the National Business Plan Competition held in Manhattan on April 2.
Pitted against 19 other teams from around the country, Flashcomm, which had topped its Long Island competition, presented their company’s goals, investments and techniques to show their success in the virtual world.
Students Alexander Messados (CEO), David Perkins (COO), Matthew Bickoff (CFO), Rachel Futterman (CMO), Daniel Jacob (Technological Officer) and Bryan Grammatico (Technology Officer) explained how they sell phones, Internet service and heat and utilities to global virtual enterprise firms. Hewlett High business teacher Ron Remick was the team’s advisor.
The Virtual Enterprise program is an international program where students create and run their own businesses. With the help of advisers, students work for two periods to run their businesses. The classes are divided into five departments: Human Resources, Accounting, Technology, Sales, and Marketing.
