Hebrew Academy of the Five Towns and Rockaway (HAFTR) High School juniors and seniors were provided with the opportunity to hear a presentation on March 19 by Danny Ayalon, who served as the Israeli ambassador to the U.S. and Israel’s deputy foreign minister.
Ayalon’s visit was part of the “Diane Taragin Memorial Project Ignite” which was established four years ago in memory of Diane Taragin, and brings inspirational speakers to HAFTR.
Ayalon served in the Israeli Foreign Service for more than 20 years and was a political adviser to three different prime ministers. He spoke of the students’ vital role in being advocates for the state of Israel as future leaders of American Jewry and the importance of disseminating truthful information about the Middle East nation.
Applying a vast reservoir of knowledge and sense of humor he explained how students can make a difference by being informed and making their pro-Israel arguments in a coherent fashion.
