The South Nassau Rock and Providence Bears renewed their friendship through hockey as the teams of 8- and 9-year-olds played a few games on the ice at Grant Park in Hewlett last Saturday and Monday.
In 2013, the South Nassau squad visited the Bears at Brown University. On Dec. 27, the Long Island team returned to Providence and the Bears completed the “home and home” with their January visit. The kids went to the Islanders-Flyers game at the Nassau Coliseum on Monday, won by the Metropolitan Division-leading Isles 7-4.
