Hewlett Bay Park woman arrested for allowing underage drinking

Up to 100 minors consuming alcohol at Cedar Avenue home

Michelle Lankri, 20, of Cedar Avenue in Hewlett Bay Park, was charged with violating Nassau County's Social Host Law, as up to 100 minors were seen drinking a variety of alcoholic beverages at a party at the same address on Saturday at 10:45 p.m., according to police.
Lankri was arrested without incident and given an appearance ticket. She is scheduled to at First District Court in Hempstead on Feb. 10.
The Social Host Law applies to any adult who is over the age of 18 and knowingly permits alcohol consumption by underage drinkers – any person under 21 – that owns, rents or is considered in control of a venue.
A first offense is punishable by a fine of $250. A $500 fine is imposed for a second offense and punishment for a third offense is a $1,000 fine and/or up to one year in jail.
