Hewlett Carvel robbed at knifepoint

The Carvel ice cream store at 1344 Peninsula Blvd. in the Peninsula Shopping Center in Hewlett was robbed of an unspecified amount money by a man holding a knife on Wednesday at 9:27 p.m., according to police.

Police said the man entered the store and went behind the counter and demanded an employee open the register. After getting the money, he left and was seen headed west to Mills Road. Only two employees were in the Carvel at the time. No injuries were reported.

It is believed that this is the same person who robbed the Carvel in North Valley Stream on Tuesday at kniifepoint, and a 7-Eleven, a Subway and several Dunkin' Donuts since last month. Police said the string of robberies includes 10 stores in the past six weeks.

Described as black and 6-feet tall, the man was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, jeans, ski mask, black gloves and dark round sunglasses.
