Inwood man assaulted, robbed of cell phone

A 58-year-old man suffered cuts and scratches after being punched in the head and hitting the ground during an attack by six men in the driveway of his Jeannette Avenue home in Inwood at 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 4, police said.
The half dozen men on bicycles approached the man, assaulted him, then took his cell phone from his pocket and fled; direction unknown, according to police, who described the assailants as black men.
Police took the man to a local hospital for treatment. They are asking that anyone with information about this incident call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-8477. All calls are kept confidential.
